Ihor Rybak

Ihor Mykhaylovych Rybak (, March 21, 1934 – September 28, 2005) was a Ukrainian weightlifter and Olympic champion who competed for the Soviet Union.
He was born in Kharkiv.〔 Rybak represented Avanhard sports society.
Rybak won a gold medal at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne in the lightweight class.〔〔("1956 Summer Olympics – Melbourne, Australia – Weightlifting" ) – ''databaseOlympics.com'' (Retrieved on February 23, 2008)〕 He also won the 1956 European middleweight Weightlifting Championship. In the late 1950s, he became a doctor.〔
Dr. George Eisen of Nazareth College included Rybak on his list of Jewish Olympic Medalists, as did Joseph Siegman in ''Jewish sports legends: the International Jewish Hall of Fame''.〔Eisen, George.
